Installation of oneLED wall and ceiling luminaires

All oneLED wall- and ceiling luminaires were designed for a direct installation on a in-wall junction box. If an on-wall installation is required, installation frames are available as an accessory for the respective designs. Even a cavity version of the direct ceiling luminaire can be provided.

Mounting on an in-wall junction box

The base plate of the luminaire is mounted directly on the in-wall junction box. Afterwards the luminous element is simply plugged on the base plate via oneLED smartCONNECT.


The following in-wall junction boxes can be used:

For flush-mounting installation e.g. Kaiser-Elektro* 1555-04
For cavity wall installation e.g. Kaiser-Elektro* 9064-01
For fire protection installation F90** e.g. Kaiser-Elektro* 9464-01
For concrete installation e.g. Kaiser-Elektro* 1260-40

* Or of another manufacturer with the same specification.
** Only in combination with installation frame22.





On-wall installation

For on-wall installation an installation frame is mounted between the base plate of the luminaire and the installation wall/-ceiling to generate a terminal compartment. If you want to place a converter in the installation frame, a installation frame48 is required. Afterwards the luminous element is simply plugged on the base plate via oneLED smartCONNECT.





Cavity installation

For an installation in suspended ceilings the luminaire is held with two spring elements in a cut-out of Ø 60-80mm. Therefore it is perfectly suitable for new installations or the replacement of existing non-efficient low-voltage-halogen lighting systems. Due to the little installation depth of 3.3cm the cavity version is perfect for usage in low ceiling systems.


Installation of oneLED suspension luminaires

All oneLED suspension luminaires are delivered with a standard suspension length of 160cm. The power supply cable is 240cm long. Of course, suspension as well as power supply can be shortened during, respectively after installation. Longer suspension ropes and/or power supply cable are available as accessories.

If you want to use the integrated dimming unit in the canopy, two different control systems are possible:

Control via PUSH It has to be observed that the three-core power supply cable (230V AC) has to be extended by 2 additional wires (for main voltage) to the push-button (refer to chapter dimming).
Control via 1…10V
rotary potentiometer
It has to be observed that addionally to the three-core power supply cable (230V AC) a further two-core cable is laid to the rotary potentiometer (refer to chapter dimming).

If the suspended luminaire should be installed at a suspended ceiling, a cable outlet box can be mounted on a junction box instead of the canopy. The required converter as well as the dimming unit can be centrally placed in the building or within the ceiling, accessible by an access hatch (refer to chapter wire lengths and cable cross-sections).

Power supply

All oneLED luminaires are connected to parallel 20-24V constant voltage.

The required converter can be installed as follows:

Decentralised The converter needed for an individual operation of a oneLED can be installed directly in the in-wall junction box or on-wall in combination with an installation frame48. Please be aware that this typ of installation allows no space for a dimming unit.
Centralised The converter needed for one or more oneLED luminaires can be centrally installed in the room or building. Please consider cable cross-sections as well as the maximum wire lengths allowed.





If one or more oneLED luminaires are operated at a converter, the total power consumption of the single oneLED luminaires must not exceed the maximum power of the converter.

So it is only permitted to operate at e.g a 70 Watt converter
16 x oneLED16 luminaires
7 x oneLED36 luminaires
4 x oneLED64 luminaires
(or a combination out of it).

Please observe chapter cable cross-sections as well as maximum allowed wire lengths.





oneLED suspension, table and floor luminaires will be delivered with the required converter and dimm unit.

Dimming

Dimming oneLED luminaires is without difficulties possible.


Specially designed puls width modulation dimming units (PWM) are connected between the 24V power supply and the oneLED luminaire. With one 24V power supply you can connect and operate one or more dimming units simultaneously.

However it has to be observed that those oneLED luminaires connected to one dimming unit do not exceed the maximum power of the PWM dimming unit, as well as all connected oneLED luminaires do not exceed the maximum power of the converter.




The PWM dimming units can be controlled on different ways:

Control via 1…10V
A PWM dimming unit with a 1..10V control interface, enables to dim one or more oneLED luminaires with a rotary potentiometer.

Between potentiometer and supply unit (converter and PWM dimming unit) a five-core wire for mains voltage has to be installed.

By turning the potentiometer the luminaire will be dimmed up or down.



Control via PUSH
A PWM dimming unit with a PUSH control interface enables to dim one or more oneLED luminaires with a standard push-button (performed as make contact)

Between push-button and supply unit (converter and PWM dimming unit) a five-core wire for mains voltage has to be installed on site.

By pushing the button shortly the luminaire is switched on or off. By pushing the button longer the luminaire is dimmed up or down.



Control via DALI protocol
By a PWM dimming unit with a DALI (digital adressable lighting interface) control interface, one or more oneLED luminaires can be controlled singly and the light intensity can be adjusted.

A digital address is allocated to each DALI dimming unit. Now the DALI control unit communicates with the PWM dimming unit and controls it.

Between DALI control unit and supply unit (converter and PWM dimming unit) a five-core wire for mains voltage has to be installed on site.



Also EIB/KNX Building Management Systems (BMS) can communicate via DALI gateway with the DALI Bus.

Wire lengths and cable cross-sections

The cross-section of the cable between converter and oneLED luminaires has to be so dimensioned, that a minimum supply voltage of 20V energises the luminaire.
The following table indicates at which total power (against the cable cross-section), which wire lengths can be realised.

For EMC reasons, a ferrit core should be installed behind the dimming module at dimmed systems with a wire length from 10 meters on.
